About Us

We started Harkness Design Studios with one clear goal — to create spaces that spark emotion, imagination, and connection. Our journey began when our founder, Fraser Harkness, worked as an Architectural Assistant at Townscape Architects, contributing to major entertainment projects for Gravity Max. These large-scale, high-energy venues combined sport, leisure, and social experience in a way that completely resonated with his creative side. Having always loved the world of entertainment and immersive design, those projects opened his eyes to how architecture could become an experience in itself.

After his time at Townscape, Fraser founded Harkness Landscape Design (HLD), working on residential and new-build garden projects alongside New Build Garden Design, known for The Garden Makeover Guy. These projects were exciting and rewarding but didn’t quite satisfy the passion for dynamic, atmospheric design that had been sparked during his work on entertainment-led spaces.

That creative drive evolved into what is now Harkness Design Studios (HDS) — a space where entertainment, architecture, and storytelling meet. Today, we collaborate with brands, developers, and visionaries to design environments that feel alive, from leisure venues and concept lounges to refined outdoor spaces. Every project begins with a sketch and grows into a fully realised experience shaped by light, mood, and emotion.
